Tip Material: Cubic Boron Nitride (CBN)
Applications: MB 820 is tailor made for hard turning operations. The Borazon CBN crystals and a TiN ceramic binder phase provide this insert with a combination of impact toughness and chemical stability. It was designed for finish machining of hardened steels (>45 HRc). Hard turning operations with it can replace conventional aluminum oxide grinding. This insert achieves metal removal rates of up to 10 times greater than grinding while delivering excellent surface finishes. Best choice for hard turning of hardened steels (>45 HRc):
