Hesston 5800 rounder big round hay baler
I bought this from a farmer that used it last hay season. When he last used it, it worked fine until a bracket broke on the side that holds a rod to tighten a chain. It needs to be rewelded onto the side of the frame before you can use the baler. I brought the baler home and have played with it here at my farm and other than that repair, it seems complete and ready to use. I hooked it up to the PTO and ran it and it all appeared to work as it should. I included a photo of the piece that broke off. I am holding it in the photos where it needs to be rewelded. The chain that is missing from the sprockets in the photos is in the baler toolbox, it was removed when the bracket broke.
The baler has a hand crank on the front to raise and lower the pickup. There is a toolbox/twine box on the front that is used to hold the twine and tools and parts. Several of the hydraulic hoses have been replaced recently and look good. The baler pulls good on the road and the tires hold air fine. They have some weather and age cracks on them, but are still good tires for baling.
The belts are all complete and working. They are worn some and the whole baler is older, but I think if you make the repair, it would be ready to use.
I have a neighbor that has a baler just like this one and he has an owners manual for it. If you want him to copy it in town so you can have a copy to take home with the baler, he said he would do that for you.
The baler is 95 inches wide, 105 inches tall, and 14 feet, 6 inches long. My neighbor's book tells that it weighs 3910 pounds. It also tells that it will make bales that are five feet wide. You can make the bales from four feet to six feet tall by using the bale height gauge on the side of the baler that you can see from the tractor.
I have a local welding shop that can weld the bracket for you if you want it done. I have no idea what it would cost, but it is a simple fix. I can take it there to have it repaired if you want me to.
