Keithley BNC-Male to Triax-Female 3-Lug Adapter
Triaxial (also known as triax) connectors are a variant on BNC which carry both a signal and guard as well as ground conductor. These are used in sensitive electronic measurement systems, particularly of Keithley. Early ones were designed with just an extra inner conductor, but later tri-axial connectors also include a three-lug arrangement to rule out an accidental forced mating with a BNC connector. Adapters exist to allow some interconnection possibilities between Triax and BNC connectors.
Keithley Model 237-BNC-TRX Male BNC to 3-Lug Female Triax Adapter w/ Guard Disconnected for Models 237, 6517A, 6517B, 7078-TRX Cables. BNC male to 3-Lug triaxial female connector adapter, inner shield disconnected, will interface with an instrument that uses BNC connectors. The triaxial female end of the adapter will allow interfacing with 3-lug triaxial cables in order to connect to equipment using 3-lug triax connectors. Triaxial shield is connected to the BNC shell. Because there is no connection to the triaxial inner shield hazardous voltages will not be present on the BNC shell.
