Stabilant 22A goes one step further than any simple contact cleaner by chemically improving conductivity between two electrical contact surfaces. Stabilant 22A coats the opposing surfaces of electrical connections with a liquid polymer carried by an alcohol base. The polymer becomes electrically conductive between charged contact surfaces. If the surfaces have gaps, pits or small irregularities which lead to poor connections, the polymer is said to fill these gaps and, by way of its conductive properties, dramatically increase the contact area. Stabilant 22A is used by the military, the medical profession, computer techs, auto mechanics, and any other electronic application that requires dependable performance.

Highly sensitive low-power electronic systems suffer when contact quality is poor. Poor connector conductivity causes static, noise, erratic electrical behavior, and distortion of the signal exactly the problems that repair and maintenance technicians spend so much of their time trying to solve. Ideally, most connectors consist of two perfectly mating metal contacts. But when magnified, the connecting surfaces show many irregularities, which means that contact points are randomly scattered across the contact surface of the connector. These uneven contact surfaces cause unpredictable contact resistance, which ultimately leads to system malfunctions.
A film of Stabilant 22 applied to the connectors reduces or eliminates problems related to poor conductivity. Stabilant 22 coats the mating surfaces of the contacts and fills the gaps between the original scattered points of contact. There, Stabilant 22 becomes conductive, and thus broadens the contact area far beyond the original, substantially improving contact quality. At the same time, Stabilant 22 seals the connector against dirt, grit and substances or materials which can cause tarnishing and corrosion.
Connectors are the most valuable part of any electronic system. Treatment with Stabilant 22 will improve the reliability of any electro-mechanical connections without forming a physical bond.
Stabilant 22 is essentially non-toxic and does not break down, evaporate or react with any other chemical treatments previously used on the contacts. There is no spill over of conductivity Stabilant 22 acts as a conductor only between the mating, charged connections.
Stabilant 22 is easy to apply just the dab of a brush or swab to the contact area. Even socketed ICs can be treated, as it will penetrate the smallest crevice. Non-migrating, and with a very low vapor pressure, Stabilant 22 will often outlast the useful life of the equipment.

Note: Stabilant 22A is original Stabilant 22 reduced with isopropynol (Isopropyl Alchohol) to make it thinner and easier to apply. The isopropynol evaporates after application leaving a film of Stabilant 22 behind.
