The Inficon #850-610-G2 is a Cold Cathode Magnetron Penning Vacuum Gauge.
The Inficon cold cathode gauge is a high vacuum sensor. It measures pressure by
ionizing the residual gases in a magnetron discharge.
The body of the gauge serves as the anode, and is at ground potential.
The cathode is a graphite spool; it operates at a voltage varying from
-500 to -3000 volts. A small permanent magnet traps electrons in the gauge to
sustain the discharge at very low pressure.
The measuring range of this gauge is 1x10-2 to 1x10-7 torr.
This Gauge was installed in an electron microscope for 6 months.
A nd was removed as part of a preventative maintenance.
When this part was replaced it was functioning normally.
