Kohler lists their CH1000 engine at 40hp Based on the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) J1940 Standard which is done with the Air Cleaner & Muffler Removed
Actual DYNO testing with the muffler & air cleaner installed on a 40hp Kohler produced 33.1hp at the Generac Test Laboratory
This Generac engine will produce the same to slightly more horsepower that the Kohler engine under the same test conditions
Even more important is engine torque
The Kohler Engine produced 61+LB FT of torque
The Generac engine produced 63+lb ft of torque

For a period of 2 two) years of operation from the date of original sale, Generac Power Systems, Inc. (Generac) will, at its option, repair or replace any part which, upon examination, inspection and testing by Generac or a Generac Authorized Warranty Service Dealer, is found to be defective under normal use and service, in accordance with the warranty schedule set forth below. Any equipment that the purchaser/owner claims to be defective must be returned to and examined by the nearest Generac Authorized Warranty Service Dealer. All transportation costs under the warranty including return to the factory. are to be borne and prepaid by the purchaser/owner. This warranty applies only to Generac GH/GV engines sold and rated for GH/GV engine applications, as Generac has defined GH/GV engine applications. This warranty pertains only to the GH/GV engines utilized to power equipment. Examples Include, but are not limited to, portable generators. pressure washers, air compressors, welders, lawn tractors and mowers, snow blowers, edgers and pumps. This warranty does not cover engines used in competitive events. This warranty is not transferable.
