This is a vintage product catalog / advertising brochure for power-saving machinery, "makers of every type pf speed-reducer and cut gear", issued by the D. O. James Manufacturing Company, Chicago, in 1931; titled "Catalog 136". Nicely printed heavy-paper covers, red endpapers, 95 pages, illustrated with many b&w photos and diagrams (including factory interiors, product applications, and workers at different factory jobs); includes some company and product history info, many products, specs, descriptions, technical data, and prices. A very uncommon catalog.
The text on the title page pretty much covers the contents of the catalog: "Planetary Spur Gear, Medium and Heavy Duty Worm Gear, Generated Continuous-Tooth Herringbone Gear Speed Reducers, in types to drive up, down, horizontally or at an angle, Cut Spur, Straight and Spiral Bevel, Mitre, Spiral, Worm, Internal, Helical and Herringbone Gears in all sizes and of all materials, Sprocket Wheels, Racks, Flexible and Universal Couplings".
Sturdy paper covers, measuring 7.5 by 10.5 inches; this has survived some moisture - the cover has a sticker, discoloring along spine, minor rubbing at extremities, a few minor scuffs; spine paper discolored but complete with minor rubbing; the bottom 3 inches of the covers and pages have rippling and light discoloration from moisture; title page has 2-inch corner chip; pages are otherwise clean and bright. Condition is Good.
