VWR Scientific 1430D Vacuum Oven
For sale- a VWR Scientific 1430D Vacuum Oven. The oven was actually manufactured by SHEL-LAB Sheldon Manufacturing. At the time it was produced VWR was a subsidiary of Univar, but I believe they are now part of the ever-expanding Thermo family of products. 120VAC, single phase. Serial number 143013 if that tells you anything. Physical condition is very good, and it powers up as you can clearly see. Includes the two stackable shelves as pictured. There is an outer solid stainless door and an inner glass door so that you can open it up and take a peak without letting all the hot air out or breaking the vacuum. The vacuum side has not been tested as I don t have any adaptors to get down to the rather small vacuum inlet size.
The unit heats up at a steady if somewhat leisurely pace, and the thermostat kicks in when it reaches the set point. However, I happened to notice that on occasion the digital temperature display seems to freak out and jump around a bit before settling back in at what I assume is the actual temperature. The first time might have been because of the humidity, the thing actually released a cloud of steam when I opened it up. And possibly it would be more stable with a vacuum applied. And it is also sitting in a drafty spot in the warehouse which probably isn t helping any. I would assume this is something that you would bring up to a stable temp before adding whatever it was supposed to heat, and it may just be that I haven t offered it a long enough period to stabilize. I will try it again when I have a chance. Max temp is said to be 260 degrees (C I assume), but the highest I have had a chance to test to is about 220.
I have seen the interior dimensions listed elsewhere as 20"D x 12" W x 12" H, with a 1.7 cubic foot capacity, but have not verified them myself. The oven is sitting on a small cart partially visible in a few of the pictures; that is not included, nor is the oven on casters.
