You can build a wrist radio: plans & insructions
A RADIO ON YOUR WRIST HEARS EAVESDROPPING TRANSMITTERS OR LOCAL STATIONS
THIS SUPER-SMALL SET can - honestly be called a wrist, or clip-on radio; its minute size lends itself to these applications without forcing the name.
It's one-third smaller and 75% lighter than commercial units. Only slightly larger than a book of matches, it has up to twice the volume and selectivity of ordinary transistor or transistor-diode circuits. It is also cheap enough to be disposable. Needs vary.
A fixed ceramic capacitor will depend upon stations operating in your area EG: If stations tune in between 1590 and 880 kc., the value of the capacitor should be about 120 mmf. To tune from 880 kc. to 550 kc., use 220 mmf. To hear your surveillance equipment, voice transmitters, baby monitors, etc., choose capacitors accordingly.
In spite of its tiny dimensions, all parts for the set are readily available. The polystyrene plastic case you'll find on the "cosmetics" counters of any variety store. There you'll also find the versatile clip which attaches to the case. Thin fiber or cardboard can be used for the chassis. The antenna lead passes through a niche filed between the case lid and its cover. When not in use, it's tucked inside.
THIS PACKAGE CONTAINS three pages which I have enlarged 125% for clarity and your reading enjoyment containing the plans, subassembly drawings, subassembly photos, wiring schematic, materials list, step-by-step construction, and finishing tips.
