Manufacturers Description: Pittsburgh Electrical Insulation s HSP tape has been designed for use as an outside armor on stator, armature and field coils. In this application the shrink characteristics of HSP tape consolidates the coil and absorbs excess resin to form a resin coated coil surface. It s shrink characteristics add to the appearance of the coil. Bags, puckering and buckling are removed as a result of the shrinkage.
HSP tape has also been designed for use as an Inside binder. An inside binder holds the form of a coil before the inside press on high voltage coils, during a dip and bake for low voltage coils. It is also called a temporary binder if it is removed after the coil shape has been stabilized by the heated press method or the dip and bake method. Many users save time and money by leaving the polyester HS tape in the coil ground wall as a permanent binder. HSP tapes are thermally stable for continuous operation at 180 degrees C. They handle well, are less fragile, do not fray easily and the cosmetic appearance of the coil is greatly improved. PEI has no control to which others may put the material and can not guarantee that the same results described here in will be obtained. Each user should make their own test to suit their particular usage.
