Rx: Attention athletes that need vision correction! We have finally found a fashionable and functional sunglass that can be made to order by your optometrist. I asked my optometrist friend and neighbor to put these through his tests and see if they were comparable to various high-end prescription sunglasses. He made up a pair with my prescription for testing (on and off the bike). They passed our tests! Your optometrist can easily work with these to install your lens strength. They charge a nominal fee for cutting a lens, but I've found the price for basic plastic lenses to be $20-40.
Test Review: The lens holder can be removed if you are wearing contacts, so the glasses function as normal sunglasses. The three tinted lenses can be switched as desired. The tinted lens can also be 'flipped' up while wearing, if you enter a dark room or tunnel through the Italian alps. The lens wraps around and gives quite a wide field of view, so they are good for riding in a pack or race situation. With the dark lens installed, the correction lens is almost impossible to notice, so they don't look like your dad's cheesey clip-on sunglasses.
