10+ rare purebred sq blue magpie duck hatching eggs
Magpie ducks are some of my friendliest ducks. They are voracious foragers, and will take a torpedo posture to chase down bug prey if noticed from afar. Their curious nature about something tasty to eat makes them easily imprinted to people. My Magpies eagerly come when they are called to the pen at night, unlike my other breeds which I usually need to walk in. They are very social with people and seem to carry on more chatter and tapping with people than most of the other breeds I have. Added pics of healthy and strong blue Magpie ducklings hatched 5/19-5/22/09. This breed is highly imprintable. Start with little bits of lettuce maybe two times a day. By the age they are in the duckling pics, a little over a week old, they already climb into my hands and sit when I simply extend my hands low. Even if they are running around, I simply place my hand gently on one's back and he sits for petting for quite a length of time. A little bit older, the Magpie ducklings are the ones posturing like a scrunched penguin turning in quick circles, dancing and asking for a hose bath. I have found that these examples are repeated behaviors through generations with this breed, not learned from adults. They are usually born with various other purebred ducklings here, so their unique behaviors stand out.
