Follansbee terne metal sheets for flat seam roof

TERNE STEEL SHEETS USE FOR FLAT SEAMED ROOFS
While cleaning out a Tinsmith shop, I came across an unopened bundle of metal purchased from Follansbee Steel in West Virginia. The bundle was labeled "FL 1X 20" x 28" plain". I received the following response from Follansbee Steel: "It sounds like you have some of our traditional Terne sheets. The FL stands for flashing grade or 20# coating weight, the IX stands for the gauge of the steel which is 28 gauge and typically the 20 x 28 was used for flat seam metal roofing. This type of application was where all the flat lock seams were locked together and then soldered to make the roof water tight."
These sheets are still in the original packaging and in great shape. Sheet size is 20" X 28". There are 105 sheets in the bundle.
If assembled correctly, these roofs can last for over 50 years.
