New 5/8 Interchangeable Pilot Counterbore HSS Straight Shank Hanita
Counterbores are cutting tools that usually have a relatively long neck between the cutting portion and the shank. The flutes are usually a 15 to 18 degree slow spiral and the clearance angles on the cutting edges are 6 to 8 degrees. They are generally used for counterboring holes for the heads of cap screws and machine screws. We stock a variety of sizes of pilots that fit these counterbores. The pilot helps to ensure concentricity of the enlarged surface with that of the original hole.
A counterbore can also spot face a hole for washers to make sure the finished surface lies below the work piece.
