Indus Instruments THM100 physiological monitor for small animals
The THM100 monitors ECG activity and displays heart rate, monitors and maintains body temperature of a mouse during studies (like ultrasound imaging).

* controller with power supply and power cable
* platform; the animal's limbs are fixed with tape on 4 pads (left/right arm/leg)
* two ribbon cables between controller and platform, for temperature (narrow) and for ECG signals (wide);
coaxial cables (BNC, 50ohm) for EGC, Trigger and Heart Rate outputs (there are three connectors on the rear panel of the controller)
* thermocouple (type T) for body temperature reading (rectal probe)
- Controller: it has two sections (Temperature/left and Heart Rate/right) that can independently be turned on/off from the corresponding button.
* The Temperature section has two functions:
* keeps warm the body: push [DISPLAY] button to light/select the (SET) LED and adjust the desired temperature from [SET] Up/Down (range 30-50 Celsius); then select (ACTUAL) and (PAD) and the current temperature of the pad is displayed
* displays the body temperature using the rectal probe: select (ACTUAL) and (BODY)
* catches, computes and displays the heart rate in beats per minute; (PULSE) blinks accordingly
* it beeps continuously when no pulse detected, or shortly, together with (PULSE); [BEEP] selects one or the other; also, the volume is adjustable
* [THRESHOLD] adjusts the input signal level; experiment for best results
* [FILTER] disables/enables and sets a low pass filter when noise is present
There are 3 signal output connectors on the rear panel (see picture 4): ECG (red), Trigger (yellow - rectangular, 2V amplitude) and HR (blue - a voltage whose value, in mV, is about double the HR; ex: for 300BPM, V~=600mV). The picture shows these signals on an oscilloscope.
- Power supply: universal, 100-240V, and the cable has a plug for North America (you might need to replace the plug or use an adapter).
- Platform: The animal can be placed on the board face-up (supine, P1\P3) or face-down (prone, P4/P2); just plug the ribbon cable in the corresponding connector on the bottom side of the board.

There are two coaxial cables that can be used for any of the three outputs.
The rectal probe is not the original one, it has a shorter sensor head, but it works identically and it is new; or you can find the original probe, RET-3, here.
Additionally, in comparison to the original kit, the board is installed on an aluminum frame with rubber feet and a holder for the anesthesia hose.
The kit was used, but everything was cleaned with disinfectant and tested for every function. Functionally it is like new, cosmetically, very minor signs.
This is NOT for human use. An isolation transformer might be required by your local rules. Conductive paste recommended for pads.
