Metcal has developed a new range of STTC SmartHeat PowerTips that delivers heat more efficiently for the most common lead-free soldering applications. Using SmartHeat PowerTips means changing to lead-free can be cost effective and doesn't necessarily require replacing soldering systems. Metcal's SmartHeat PowerTips technology is designed to address the high thermal demands of lead-free alloys and other high thermal demand applications. The enhanced heater efficiency and thermal transfer characteristics of these soldering tip cartridges allow for a significant increase in thermal performance without resorting to the conventional approach of increasing tip idle temperatures, thereby eliminating the risk of thermal damage.
