The nucleus 500 + l meter ludlum 44-5 radiation probe
(1) used The Nucleus Model L ratemeter, serial number 9012-0703. It is analog with on/off/speaker knob, HV knob, ranges are 500, 2000, 5000, 20000, 50000, and HV. The analog CPM scale is 0-500 on top, middle is 0-2000, Bottom in red (volts) is 0-2000. The case shows a little staining on top but is in overall pretty good shape. The rubber feet on the bottom are in very nice condition.
(1) used The Nucleus Model 500 Nuclear Scaler, serial number 9012-0703. It is digital, there is a high voltage coarse setting (0, 200, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1200, 1400, 1600, 1800) and a fine setting (0, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100, 120, 140, 160, 180, 200). Buttons are power, test, count, stop, reset. Count interval minutes are 0.5, 1, 2, 5, 10, MAN. The case is in very nice shape although used with minor scraping. The rubber feet are in perfect shape.
(1) used Ludlum 44-5 pancake probe, serial number PR150376. Probe handle and tan paint are in very good shape. The window protection screen does have one broken "rung" which I measured to be a 1.3mm defect and is does not "poke" the probe. The screen is in average condition.
(1) used cable which fits probe and both meters. The insulation on one end of the cable is frayed and I would replace it. It does still appear to function normally when using the Ludlum 44-5 with either the L or the 500 meters.
Good points: use the probe with either meter, they appear functional as I operate all controls, however I don't have a radioactive source to check with.
Bad points: minor paint scraping, staining on meters, cable works but needs replacing, probe has 1.3mm broken screen rung.
