The poetry of the fourteenth-century Persian, Hafiz, has been referred to, along with Rumi, Shakespeare and Dante, as one of the seven great literary wonders of the world. To Persians, the poems of Hafiz are not classical literature from a remote past but cherished wisdom, humor and love from a dear friend. For centuries Hafiz has been called the tongue of the invisible, and through these modern versions he continues to sing wild and beautiful love songs to this world from God.
