The base, 1st part of the elbow and the 2nd part that contains the lamp head are all 1/4" connectors to make it very easy to assemble and dissassemble and, super sturdy. When you move this lamp into the position you want, it stays precisely where you position it.
It also has an outlet on the side so that you can power additional equipment right there, where you need it.
