Vintage 60S large herman miller drawing drafting table
Offering for sale, a very rare, vintage HERMAN MILLER drafting table. I purchased it used, in 1983, from the company I used to work for, (M. LOWENSTEIN CORP, NY). I was a textile artist there, from 1983- 1990. This table may have been purchased in the 1960's, but that is just a guess. When LOWENSTEIN CORP, merged with SPRINGS INDUSTRIES, (another textile mill around the corner) the art departments were merged. The company had a used office furniture sale, while I was employed with them, as they were re-doing the art studio, with smaller drafting tables, to fit more artists, on our floor. There were many desks, that went unsold, because many of the artists did not have a way to get them home. Luckily, my boyfriend at the time(now my husband of 21 years) loaded it into his stationwagon, along with 2 sets of industrial metal flat draws, and a taberay. I found out later, the company threw out the rest of the office furniture, that did not sell. The flat draws, we pulled out of the dumpster, along 39th street, between 6th Avenue and Broadway. There was a lot of waste back then. who ever thought of being 'GREEN', in the 80's?
I purchased this desk, for personal freelance use, and have been using it as a freelance artist, ever since. I left the textile industry last year, said goodbye to my freelance clients, to sell on the internet full time, and I no longer draw for a living, and this table, really takes up to much of my studio space.
This table is aproximately 59" wide, 35" deep, add a 2"x1" deep catch tray, that runs the width of the table, making the table a total of 37" deep, and stands about 27" high, on the flat position. This table has 3 tilt settings not counting flat. The amount of tilt can be described by, at maximum tilt the back of the table is raised about 8 inches. It has one handle on each side, to help re-positioning.
