Based on the popular Model 100, the Military & Police model can be double locked without fiddling with keys. With the tip of your finger, fully lift the lever and then allow it to return. Once this has been done, the double lock will be set. This causes the lock spring to move into a position that locks the bolt thus preventing the cuff from being further tightened. NO TOOL REQUIRED TO DOUBLE LOCK!
Smith & Wesson handcuffs are contoured in such a way that holding them in the "loaded" position and applying them is noticeably more comfortable than handcuffs with a more square profile. A little thing, perhaps, but one that affects technique.
