Bench dog sleeve for festool, walko, workmate
A simple but effective way to mount auxillary fences, jigs and templates to the Festool MFT, Walko, and Workmate tables with 20mm diameter holes. Some of the fences that can be used include the Rockler Multi-track, Kreg Traks and many others that incorporate a slot which uses a standard 1/4" bolt-head. You may already have fences in your shop that you may be able to use, the fence shown above is an aftermarket fence sold with my Woodhaven miter gauge. These can also be threaded differently to meet your needs. (5/16" x 18 works great with the Kreg Klamp.) Just let me know and allow a few extra days for machining.
Included are two internally-threaded reducing sleeves, two 1/4" x 20 threaded rods, two nuts, and two threaded knobs.
Q. What kind of accuracy can one expect mounting a fence using these sleeves?
A. These sleeves are machined with high accuracy, but unfortunately the weak link is the fit between the bolthead/nut and the slot in the fence. This looseness can be negated by positioning the fence with aft pressure while tightening the sleeve against the fence, but the squareness should always be double-checked.
If you are looking to easily and repeatably duplicate the accuracy of the MFT, Walko, or Workmate top, you need to consider side-mounting the fence with my adjustable bench-dogs. (See my other items)
