We were raising perch in an indoor recirculating aquaculture system. We used Bee Cell media for biofiltration and it worked fantastic. We never had to clean it and it never plugged or channeled. It is neutrally bouyant plastic so we had an air grid under it. As the tiny air bubbles rose to the top, they churned the water keeping the media constantly moving and colliding, basically a self-cleaning action. It's ability as a biofilter media was the best we ever used. In one system we had 3 different styles of biofilter media. The Bee Cell worked so well that we took the other 2 out and the system never skipped a beat.
