Typical Superheat Charging Calculation Using ExactCharge Calculator
1) Take indoor wet bulb reading at or near return air grill
2) Press WB key and enter indoor wet bulb reading
3) Take indoor dry bulb reading at or near return air grill
4) Press DB key and enter indoor dry bulb reading
5) Go outside and take outdoor ambient reading from air entering condenser
6) Press ODA key and enter outdoor ambient reading
7) Press SH key readout displays targeted superheat required
8) Press REF key and enter refrigerant contained in system
9) Press SH and enter targeted superheat from above calculation
10) Press PRS key and enter low side pressure from gauges
11) Press LT key readout displays required low side line temperature
12) If within + or- 5 degrees unit is properly charged
13) If line temperature is above required line temperature by more the 5 degrees add refrigerant or check for possible restriction in refrigerant system
14) If line temperature is below required line temperature by more the 5 degrees remove refrigerant or check for possible blocked indoor evaporator coil or poor airflow.
