This DW-600BX model pocket scale operates in four modes, including a TROY OUNCE mode; perfect for weighing Gold and silver!

The SILVER acid will change colors based on Purity!
80% - 90% = LIGHT RED or brownish
65% - 75% = Light Green Color
Testing For Platinum: Scratch the test item on the stone and apply one drop of acid to the application on the stone. If the material is platinum, it should keep its white, bright color.
The Gold Test Acid kit will change color if the metal is not at least as pure as the karat rating on the acid bottle.
For the 10K, 14K, 18K, and 22K testing acids:
The process is simple, scratch or rub the metal (jewelry) onto the testing stone.
Place half a drop of the closest acid to the karat you estimate the metal to be.
* If the acid dissolves the metal it s less then the karats on the bottle and you should try again with lower level acid.
* If it dissolves the metal slowly, it s possible you would have a bit less then the karat (Gold) of the acid in the bottle.
* If the metal stays it s most likely the karat of the acid in the bottle.
The mini DW-BX digital 600 x 0.1 tool allows you to choose from four (4) different weighing modes!
